When asked whether Apple is moving towards USB-C, Joswiak said “Obviously we have to comply, we have no choice.”
Joswiak is referring to a new set of regulations in the European Union, as well as in Brazil, that mandate the use of USB-C on smartphones. Apple has long opposed the idea, but now that the EU will actually start implementing the law starting in 2024, the company will have to make changes if it wants to continue selling iPhones in the EU. .
For users, this would simply mean that most of their gadgets, whether made by Apple or any other company, would charge with a single cable.

Apple isn’t too happy about it. “We think the approach would have been better environmentally, and better for our customers, not have been prescriptive for governments,” Joswiak said.
However, Joswiak wouldn’t say when the switch is going to happen, exactly. “Europeans are scheduling for European customers,” he said.
